The Future is Green

Helping the vulnerable has always been a big part of GM so when Green Destinations approached us to build 10 accessible minibuses we were delighted.

Green Destinations, based in Birmingham, is a specialist provider of home-to-school transport for passengers with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Transporting their vulnerable passengers from home-to-school in an energy efficient, modern and safe vehicle is paramount.

Jameel Malik, their CEO, commented:

“we aim to deliver an accessible, high quality and safe transport service which is central to our mission and at the heart of delivering value for money services for clients. It’s great to be working with a converter such as GM Coachwork who we know will provide us with a fantastic product.”

All ten vehicles were identical, based on the Maxus Deliver9 featuring 8 rear seats plus the driver. The 8 seats in the rear cabin had integral all-age seat belts and were all fully removable to make way for wheelchair passengers. At the rear, an inboard passenger lift will allow wheelchair users to board the exit the minibus with ease. Up front next to the driver a luggage pen keeps bags safe in transit.

GM’s Lee Jones who worked with Green Destinations added:

“It’s great to work with an organisation like Green Destinations who are providing a much needed and valuable service to help disadvantaged kids get to and from school. I was delighted to be able to make this happen and give them the vehicles they need to do the job”.
